General Procedure to Apply, Follow it Step by Step
Step 1: Find a Suitable University
Search for a reputable university that offers your desired program and is affiliated with the Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS). You can refer to the Subject-Wise University List under CSC for guidance.

Step 2: Contact the Professor
Reach out to a professor at the university and request their acceptance to become your supervisor. A professor's acceptance letter will significantly improve your chances of receiving the scholarship, and the process isn't difficult.

Once the professor agrees to accept you, send them the Supervisor Request Letter or Acceptance Letter format.
Step 3: Complete the CSC Online Application Form
Fill out the CSC Online Application Form through the Chinese Government Scholarship login.

CSC Scholarship Categories
There are three scholarship categories under the Chinese Government Scholarship:
Category A: Select this if you're applying through the Chinese Embassy.
Note: According to the new policy, you can apply to up to two universities through the Chinese Embassy.
Category B: Select this if you're applying directly through a university.
Note: You can apply to only one university under Category B, as per the new policy.
Category C: Select this if you are applying through other sources.
As you're applying directly to a Chinese university, you should choose Category B when filling out the CSC Online Application Form.
Step 4: Complete the "Physical Examination Record for Foreigner"
Complete the Physical Examination Record for Foreigner form and attach the necessary medical reports. This is also known as the Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
Step 5: Prepare Your Documents
Print the required documents and ensure that all your educational documents are attested by a Notary Public.
After completing the online application and gathering the necessary documents, find the address of the University's International Students Office. Send your documents, along with the printed forms, via a reliable courier service such as DHL (using their student package).
Make sure to include a note stating that you are applying for the CSC Scholarship under the China Scholarship Council.
Silk Road Scholarship (Belt and Road Initiative)
The Silk Road Scholarship, also known as the Belt and Road Scholarship or Forbidden City Scholarship (FCS) for Beijing universities, is also offered under the China Scholarships Council. The scholarship amount is similar to that of the Chinese Government Scholarship. This scholarship is designed for students from countries that are part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) or the Silk Road Economic Belt.
