Description

The Department of Geography in the College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Geospatial Intelligence. This position will support our B.S. degree programs in Geography and Geographic Information Science and Technology, the online Master’s of Geoscience program, and a graduate certificate program in Geospatial Intelligence.   The successful candidate must have a proven research record and a strong commitment to education and professionalization of undergraduate and graduate students. The Department views Geospatial Intelligence as an important growth area, and we seek to accredit our certificate program by USGIF and to develop closer ties with the Bush School of Public Policy in the GeoINT arena. This is a nine-month full-time annual appointment with an anticipated start date of August 2025.

In addition to research expectations, the successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and supervise graduate students. Faculty are also expected to participate in appropriate disciplinary service and contribute to departmental and university committees.

The Department of Geography (artsci.tamu.edu/geography) has twenty-two faculty members with strengths in biogeography, climatology, geographic information science and technology (GIST), geomorphology, human geography, and human-environment relationships. We are one of eighteen departments in the College of Arts & Sciences (http://artsci.tamu.edu).

Qualification

Candidates should be student-focused and dedicated to providing high-quality education for a range of students.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated potential for excellence in research, with a record of scholarly publications. We also expect that successful candidates will have experience in or demonstrated potential for securing external research funding.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Geography or related field at the time of appointment. Professional experience in the area of Geospatial Intelligence is desirable.
