Description

This PhD opportunity is ideal for BSc and/or MSc graduates with a strong background in any engineering disciplines, construction, civil, computer science, or architecture, and a keen interest in emerging fields such as NetZeroCarbon, Retrofitting, Sustainability, Robotics, MachineLearning, DigitalTwins, AR/VR, and more.

The available projects are:

PhD1. Upskilling building trades for net zero carbon retrofitting of existing buildings via an AI-powered, fully immersive and interactive training environment. This project aims to explore the use of Augmented Reality (AR) and Digital Twin (DT) technology with the objective of developing a fully immersive and interactive training environment for Net Zero Carbon retrofitting.

PhD2. Immersive virtual reality application for construction safety training and education during a human-robot collaboration task. The overarching aim of this project is to improve construction workers’ knowledge, skills, and safety behaviors by applying Immersive virtual reality (IVR) during human-robot collaboration (HRC) tasks in construction.
